New Super Mario Bros Wii - The Next Mario Kart?
On November 11th, the Wii finally gets it’s first regular series 2D Mario game. This is huge. Not only are the previous games in this series some of the best loved and most owned games in video gaming history, but New Super Mario Bros Wii adds to the package with some additions that gamers just can’t look past.
At last, Mario multiplayer! Yes, up to four players can play as Mario, his lanky brother and two toads. You can compete against your pals and mess up their level, but there’s also the flavor of the year co-op mode. Either way, mulitplayer Mario is a dream come true for gamers and Mario developers a like.
For all the talk about how the ‘hardcore’ have left Nintendo behind, can you really call yourself a hardcore gamer or a gamer at all if you pass up on the first 2D multiplayer Mario? The answer is obviously not, but as the self proclaimed core gamers slide more and more away from games and towards interactive movies, I would not be surprised to see the constant belittling of the best game system on the market continuing.
For all the rest of the world that really just love games and gaming, New Super Mario Bros Wii will be a milestone title and November 11th a day to remember.
